Gravel and sand


Sand is a sedimentary unconsolidated rock, resulted from the crushing of minerals, rocks or organisms and which is found as an assemblage of fine grains (0,063–2 mm). The main compound of the sand is quartz. It is used as a building material, as raw material for the glass and china industry and for mineral extraction from its composition.
 
      

SAND (0-4 MM)
Sand is a sedimentary unconsolidated rock, resulted from the crushing of minerals, rocks or organisms and which is found as an assemblage of fine grains (0,063–4 mm) – sorted and washed. The main compound of the sand is quartz; it seldom contains minerals, such as: monazite, cassiterite, diamante, sapphire, garnet etc. Sand is used as a building material, as a raw material for the glass and china industry and for the extraction of minerals from its composition.
     
 
PEA GRAVEL/GRAVEL (4-8 MM)
Pea gravel is a sedimentary rock resulted from the crushing of minerals, rocks or organisms. Washed and sorted in the size 4-8 mm, it is known as pea gravel or gravel. Pea gravel is used as building material, road treatment, earthworks, coverings made of cement concrete, high performance concretes etc.
     
 
GRAVEL (8-16 MM)
Gravel is a sedimentary rock resulted from the crushing of minerals, rocks or organisms. Washed and sorted in the size 8-16 mm, it is known as gravel. Gravel is used as building material, road treatment, earthworks, coverings made of cement concrete, high performance concretes etc.
     
 
BIG STONES (16-32 MM)
They are sedimentary rocks resulted from the crushing of minerals, rocks or organisms. Washed and sorted in the size 16-31 mm, they are known as big stones. These big stones are used as building material, road treatment, earthworks, coverings made of cement concrete, high performance concretes etc.
     
 
OVERSIZE PIECES (>31 MM)
They are sedimentary rocks resulted from the crushing of minerals, rocks or organisms. Washed and sorted in the size of over31 mm, they are known as oversize pieces. These oversize pieces are used as building material, road treatment, earthworks, coverings made of cement concrete, high performance concretes etc.
     
 
BALLAST (0-63 MM)
Optimised ballast is a mix of gravel and sand, usually a sedimentary one, used in constructions for earthworks, embankments or as aggregate for concretes.
